Crisis in Haiti - Update
15 January 2010
In follow-up to
yesterday's call for physician volunteers for Haiti, we have important new information.
As you may have experienced, the Partners In Health Web site is experiencing tremendous volume and at times can not be accessed. To aid their efforts, the MSV Foundation has agreed to serve as a front line volunteer triage for interested Virginia physicians.
Right now, the urgent need is for physicians with expertise in:
- orthopaedic surgery
- vascular surgery
- emergency medicine
- anesthesiology
Physicians fluent in french and/or creole are also needed.
If you are willing to volunteer immediately and fit this description, please e-mail Beth Bortz at
bbortz@msv.org with your contact information and specialty information. She will forward it to Dr. Kenerson and Partners In Health.
If you are a physician that would like to help in the longer term, and/or are of a different medical specialty, please forward your contact information to
foundation@msv.org and Foundation staff will forward it to Partners in Health early next week.
When sending your information, please make certain to include your name, medical specialty, phone number, home address, and e-mail address.
We sincerely thank the physician community for its compassion and willingness to help. Please know that while the systems are working beyond capacity, they are still working and you will be contacted just as soon as your services can be best utilized.
