CMPLI’s 2010-2011 class convenes for closing session

The Medical Society of Virginia Foundation (MSVF) hosted the 2010-2011 Claude Moore Physician Leadership Institute (CMPLI) closing session on Sept. 14. Five classes totaling 101 physicians have now completed the institute, which was created in 2006 to produce a network of physician leaders who work individually and together effectively to advance health and health care in Virginia. During the closing session, fellows gave leadership action plan presentations where they described key leadership strategies and identified the greatest challenges and important breakthroughs achieved through their work. They also heard
H. Lee Kanter, M.D., FACC speak on the physician-patient relationship in the paradigm of patient-centered care and opportunities for physician leadership in the evolving models of health care.
The institute offered practical leadership training conducted by respected local, state and national speakers on a variety of leadership topics, complemented by learning experiences that take advantage of national and state training opportunities and local experts that guide participants through focused learning efforts. MSVF operated the physician leadership institute with a five-year grant from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation and with support from HCA Virginia and the Herndon Foundation.
