MSV volunteers in free health clinic

29 July 2010

From July 23 - 25 staff from the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV) Foundation and MSV volunteered with Remote Area Medical (RAM) at the annual Wise County Health Fair in southwest Virginia. Over 4,000 free medical treatments were provided to patients in the first two days, along with free dental and vision care. Beth Bortz, MSV Foundation executive director, Rufus Phillips, MSV executive vice president, and Ann Hughes, MSV lead lobbyist, made the journey to Wise County to volunteer.

MSV would like to thank all of the physicians, residents and medical students who provided patient care at the Wise County Health Fair.

-I commend all those who volunteered for the Health Care Clinic in Wise County. A noble and good thing to do. Now how about some recognition for those who have volunteered their services for years in free clinics throughout the state. There is little in the way of support or caring from MSV.
