MSVF welcomes new executive director

The MSV Foundation board of directors recently announced that Susan Motley will join the organization as the executive director on Mon., Jan. 9, 2012.
Ms. Motley brings an extensive understanding of the health care landscape having most recently served as the CEO of the Virginia Nurses Association (VNA). Over the past four years she has built strong, strategic partnerships and her vision and leadership have positively influenced the health care community in Virginia.
“When you meet Susan you will see that she is engaging and has a heart to be a positive force of change in the health care community,” said
Krista Crawford-Mathis, Ph.D., MSV Foundation president. “Her can-do and collaborative spirit will indeed represent our organization well,” she continued.
While with VNA, Ms. Motley was instrumental in developing the Nurse Leaders in the Boardroom program at the request of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and served as co-lead of the Virginia Action Coalition, a grant-funded, broad-based collaboration of the Virginia health care community. She was appointed by Gov. Tim Kaine and reappointed by Governor McDonnell to the Health Information Technology Advisory Commission and was a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Center to Champion Nursing in America leadership advisory group.
Ms. Motley has demonstrated experience in strategic planning and organizational alignment; board, volunteer and staff engagement; marketing and communications; sponsorship and event management; and advocacy.
